Buttermere

Buttermere is situated in the Western Lake District in the county of Cumbria. Buttermere is a tranquil haven and has long since been visited by all those who love the beauty and surrounding mountain scenery.   Buttermere and surrounding area offers some of the best walking country in Lakeland. There is a footpath running round the perimeter of the lake, and lovely walks to the summits of Haystacks and Red Pike. Buttermere Lake is owned by the National Trust.

Set between Buttermere and Crummock Water and surrounded by the Buttermere Fells in an area of outstanding natural beauty the hotel is on a site which has been occupied for over 1000 years.

Walking climbing painting photography fly fishing bird watching or just sightseeing are all able to be enjoyed within walking distance of the hotel and in the most stunning of locations.

We offer a five course table d'hote dinner served in the dining room with a selection of over 50 wines.

Alternatively hearty luncheons and evening meals are served in our air conditioned oak beamed traditional lakeland bars.
