The circular walk of the tarn gives wonderful views of Gate House itself. Eskdale Green Eskdale CA19 1TE Directions: From the south On the M6 take junction 36 off to join the A590 to Barrow and South Lakes. At Greenodd turn right onto A595 towards Workington.After 9 miles turn right before traffic lights at narrow bridge signposted Ulpha. Follow road until see turning to left signed Whitehave and Eskdale. This takes you to village of Eskdale Green.From North Leave M6 at junction 40 and take A66 towards Keswick. Continue past Keswick until left turn onto A595 to Whitehaven. Follow road bypassing Egremont and Whitehave until reach Calder Bridge. Take left hand turn to Gosforth and Eskdale Green.
